Migraine Relief From Neurofeedback

Having been a migraine sufferer myself for 20 years. This topic is an important one. I can tell you firsthand LENS neurofeedback therapy helped me tremendously. I have been pain free for 8 years now. It is the reason why I started NeuroBalance.

According to a nine year old study published in The Journal Clinical EEG and Neuroscience, where a QEEG brain imaging was used to record brain activity of 71 migraine sufferers. Dallas neurologist, Jonathan Walker, M,D., witnessed a common brainwave activation pattern to all of these migraine patients. He went on to treat 46 patients with neurofeedback and 25 patients decided to remain to be treated with drugs.

Dr. Walker treated the neurofeedback patients with an average of 24 treatments. Using the innovative computer to brain interphase therapy and showed no side effects. During the typical session, patients were hooked up to sensors which tracked and recorded their data along with visual and auditory information in real time.

The end of the study showed, 54% of those in the neurofeedback group experienced a complete recovery from their head pain with no side effects. None of the patients from the drug intervention group had reported an elimination from migraine activity. Also, 39% from the neurofeedback group reported a more than 50% reduction in terms of frequency of attacks. Yet, only 8% of the people in the drug treatment group reported similar findings. Only one person in the neurofeedback group reported no change, while 68% in the drug therapy group reported no change in migraine activity.

Neurofeedback therapy has shown to be even more effective than medication. Eliminating the severity of pain for many people to the point of a reduction to an elimination of their medications altogether.

We treat most migraine clients for an average of only twelve sessions.

Migraines cost Americans over $13 billion yearly, from a reduction of work days and overall productivity. Today, over 28 million Americans suffer from reoccurring migraines. They are told that the only real remedy is the use of pharmaceuticals. Yet 84% of migraine sufferers report that drugs do not completely relieve their pain and some report that they don’t work at all. While 71% add that their pain always returns even after treatment. It is also noted that over a third report that the drug treatments carry too many side effects.

LENS Neurofeedback is here to stay offering real hope in the reduction of migraine pain for sufferers throughout the world.
